Business Annual Travel Insurance

Annual travel insurance policies for the purpose of providing travel insurance cover for work or business trips, as well as leisure trips, are available in two basic types. Policies for an individual, a couple or a family, and policies for a company to purchase that can provide cover for all of their employees’ business travel, and possibly their leisure travel as well. Through our websites PHA Insurance Services Ltd only sell policies for the individual, couple or family to purchase as the company scheme is tailored to the number of days per year spent in the various geographical areas, among other factors, and as a result it requires the premium to be manually calculated by the insurer.

Also, as you would expect, the nature of the work or business undertaken during a trip has a major effect on whether cover is available at all, as well as modifying the premium. In most cases, and certainly with the annual travel insurance policies available for online purchase from our websites, only non-manual work is covered if in receipt of pay, any form of paid manual work is excluded from cover, although Plans C & D (available for EU residents) will cover voluntary unpaid manual labour in some circumstances. We do have a policy we can sell that will provide cover for farm work, working with hazardous machinery and working up to a height of nine metres above ground as standard, and also with off shore work and working at heights above nine metres considered on an individual basis.

It should also be noted that an annual policy for travel insurance is designed for multiple trips, of relatively short duration, throughout the 12-month period. For an individual, couple or family, the maximum duration of any one trip that any of our policies will cover is 100 days, which is more than half of the allotted travel days included within that policy, the maximum days outside your home country being 183. There is another policy that we sell, although not available online, with a maximum of 90 days per trip that does not have a limit on the number of days outside the UK per year. The corporate policy can include cover for trips up to 183 days in length outside the UK and can also include cover for commuting within the UK, which is calculated at 225 days of cover per year.
